A small, wrapped package sat on top of the pile, addressed in familiar, looping handwriting. It was from Leo, a student from a decade ago, notorious for his mischievous grin.

She tore into the paper with a delighted chuckle, a childish energy surging within her. Inside, nestled in tissue paper, was a hand-painted ceramic bird, its wings outstretched in a perpetual state of flight. A small note read, "Thanks for teaching me to soar, Ms. Elara."

A warmth spread through her chest, making her breath catch slightly. She held the bird up, rotating it to catch the light. It was the most beautiful, meaningful thing she'd seen all week.
