He stared at the words, the accusations. The manuscript was a brutal depiction of their relationship. Every fight, every misunderstanding, every perceived slight had been meticulously documented by Emily. David felt his skin prickle with heat.

He started small. He rearranged the kitchen, putting away all of her favorite mugs and replacing them with his own. He added more sugar to her morning coffee.

He then started to edit her manuscript, subtly changing the characters' names, making the story about *his* successes. His goal was to make sure that the world thought that she was the one with issues. He watched her face when she read the revised version, and felt the satisfaction of a master puppeteer.
