The shock faded, replaced by a cold, hard resolve. When Sarah found the manuscript, she discovered that Chris had been writing about her, and it was a devastating indictment. The woman in his novel was unstable, irrational, and, ultimately, the cause of their problems.

Sarah started to call in "sick" from work. She then used his credit card for shopping sprees, filling her apartment with expensive things. She wanted to prove to him that she was the victim.
