The manuscript, discovered in the attic, was a knife twisting in Henry's gut. Eleanor's portrayal of him was unkind. He was depicted as weak, indecisive, and completely out of touch with her needs.

The simmering anger inside Henry needed an outlet. He knew, intimately, Eleanor's vulnerabilities. The details he learned in the book, however, filled him with new ammunition.

He began to subtly critique her writing. He would make comments about her appearance. He was not sure how long he could live like this, but he was committed to making her life just as miserable as she made his seem in her book.
