Gemotions

Daniel stared out the window, the cityscape blurring into a watercolor of light and shadow. The deadline for the job offer loomed. He’d told Mark he wasn't overly concerned about the outcome, but inside, a cold dread had begun to settle. They had both graduated from the same university, and he knew they had the same qualifications.

He checked his phone again, the screen a blank void of unread messages. He hadn't heard from Mark since the interview. The silence was deafening. He knew Mark was a strong candidate.

His jaw tightened. He walked to the kitchen and made himself a cup of tea, something he did when he was agitated. He found he kept having to breathe deeply.
