The chef, Mr. Henderson, stared at the menu. “The Signature Shrimp Scampi.” It was *his* signature. His creation. The waitress had taken the menu without hesitation. The owner of the restaurant had asked him to show the other restaurant how to do it.

He sat there, perfectly still. Every muscle in his body felt tense. He felt a deep ache in his chest, a heavy pressure that made it difficult to breathe. He looked up at the waitress, and smiled weakly.

He managed a small sip of water, but he couldn't bring himself to eat. He felt a coldness wash over him.
