Her eyes narrowed as she read the cookbook. The "Irresistible Irish Soda Bread" was identical to her grandmother's recipe, the one she’d written in the family heirloom cookbook. It was a betrayal.

She felt her pulse quicken, a frantic drumbeat in her ears. She slammed the cookbook shut, the sound echoing in the silent room. She stood, pacing back and forth, unable to settle.

A knot formed in her stomach. Her breath came in short, shallow gasps. She clutched her arms, as if warding off a chill. She could not comprehend how someone could do such a thing.
