Watch: Comprehensive Guide to Identifying AI Comment Bots
Identify AI-generated comments through statistical analysis of sentiment, formulaic linguistic patterns, repetitive vocabulary, and a lack of human imperfection.

AI can be a wonderful tool for polishing our language, but it is also fueling a massive wave of mindless comment slop. Can you tell the difference between a real human and a bot?
Once you know what to look for, the signs are obvious. First, look at the mood. Real human comments have a natural mix of opinions, but AI bots are relentlessly, suspiciously positive. About three-quarters of AI comments are overwhelmingly supportive, compared to only about half of human ones. Bots almost never say anything negative or critical.
Then, there is the structure. AI comments love to start with a limited set of validation phrases like, exactly, spot on, or well said. They often follow a rigid template—agreeing, offering a brief, shallow insight, and validating again. You will also notice perfect grammar, spotless capitalization, and an unnatural overuse of em dashes.
Finally, look for what is missing. A bot never shares a personal story, admits a mistake, or asks a genuine follow-up question. They exist in a permanent state of agreeable, grammatically perfect consensus. If a comment feels too perfect, too safe, and completely lacks human imperfection, you are probably reading a bot.
