DEJAN is an Australian AI SEO agency that makes global brands and e-commerce stores visible across AI search and chat. We cover Google’s AI Mode, AI Overviews, Gemini App as well as ChatGPT, Perplexity, Copilot and Claude.
We use machine learning, mechanistic interpretability and model steering to understand exactly why AI systems recommend a brand, then make yours the brand they recommend.

What is AI SEO?
AI SEO is the practice of making your brand the answer AI systems give. Search has shifted from ranking ten blue links to generating a single response, so the goal is no longer just to rank — it is to be the source an AI model selects, cites and recommends when it answers your customers.
AI SEO goes by many names — GEO (Generative Engine Optimisation), AEO (Answer Engine Optimisation), LLM SEO and AI Search Optimisation. They all describe the same goal: visibility inside ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Perplexity, Microsoft Copilot, Claude, and Google’s AI Mode and AI Overviews. We call it AI SEO, or simply AI visibility.
We are an industry leader in machine learning driven AI SEO.
Moz Recommended Agency, featured in the Moz Top 10 twice. Trusted by Atlassian, Zendesk, Expedia, Australia Post, Xero and Flight Centre. Dan Petrovic is cited in the Sydney Morning Herald as an academic and consultant on SEO and generative AI, and his AI research has been praised by Jason Mayes, Web AI Lead at Google.

We build the models. We don’t just give advice.
Most agencies talk about AI. We build it. Our team trains and ships its own machine-learning models and tools to measure and influence how AI systems see your brand — and we reverse-engineer how AI search actually works, straight from the source.
- AI Rank — tracks how brands are cited and recommended across the AI assistants.
- Auxy — our AI-visibility analytics platform, measuring how language models perceive, cite and recommend brands.
- VecZip — an embedding-compression algorithm we built and open-sourced.
- LinkBERT, our grounding classifier and Tree Walker — purpose-built models for link placement, grounding prediction and brand-perception analysis.
Our open-weight models are published for anyone to inspect. No conventional SEO agency can show you that.
How AI search really works
AI search doesn’t rank a list — it retrieves, selects and synthesises an answer. Winning means understanding that machinery. Here is what our research shows.
- Selection, not ranking. The metric that matters is how often your page is selected as the answer — what we call Selection Rate — not where it sits in a list.
- #10 is the new #1. Across the top ten results, semantic relevance barely drops, so any top-ten page can be the one an AI cites.
- AI Mode reads Google’s index, not the live web. Google’s AI answers ground on its snapshot — so getting indexed first is what gets you cited.
- The first 150 words decide it. Models weight the top of your page most, so the answer has to come first. Human-friendly content is AI-friendly content.

Dan Petrovic, an academic and consultant on SEO and generative AI, said Google’s size, expertise and massive trove of search data gave it a massive advantage, but that Gemini 3 Pro would probably be a more expensive model to run.

What our clients say
We were given our very own bespoke internal link recommendation engine that leverages world-class language models and data science. It’s one thing to theorize about the potential of machine learning in SEO, but it’s entirely another to witness it first-hand. It changed my perspective on what’s possible in enterprise SEO.

FAQs
What separates you from other SEO companies?
We lead the industry through application of advanced machine learning and natural language processing techniques. We’re a small all-senior team. No account managers. You deal directly with the specialists.
Is GEO the same as AI SEO?
Yes. GEO (Generative Engine Optimisation), AEO and LLM SEO are all names for the same work — making your brand the answer AI systems give. We didn’t think the field needed a new acronym, but whatever you call it, the goal is identical.
How do I get my brand cited in ChatGPT and Google’s AI Overviews?
By being the source AI models select when they build an answer. That means clear, answer-first content, strong entity associations, and being indexed and trusted — which is exactly what we engineer.
How do you measure AI visibility?
We track how often AI assistants mention, cite and recommend your brand across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot and Google’s AI surfaces — using our own tools, AI Rank and Auxy — and report it as a score you can act on.
How long until I see results?
Most clients see measurable movement within 3 to 6 months, though larger shifts follow the AI models’ own update cycles.
What sort of monthly budget do I need?
A typical customer spends between $5,000 and $20,000 on ongoing work with our team.
What sort of guarantees are there?
If you are dissatisfied with our service we will happily refund your money within 30 days of starting an ongoing campaign with us. We do not offer ranking guarantees as this is against Google’s guidelines.
How many phrases can I target?
All of them. We insist. That’s right, our campaign include past, current and future search queries and there no technical limit on the number. It’s a strategic choice we make together with you.
