Giant Stars

Eight steps scale from a 1.7 metre person out to Stephenson 2-18, the largest star known, at roughly 3 billion kilometres across. Each frame draws its objects to scale against each other, so the Sun shrinks to about a single pixel beside Betelgeuse and Betelgeuse itself looks small beside Stephenson 2-18. Step through with the buttons or the arrow keys, or press the space bar for auto play. Sizes for the largest stars are estimates and carry real uncertainty.
