When you ask Gemini to access or interact with a specific website address, it might feel like the artificial intelligence is visiting the live page right then and there. But that is not what is happening.
Gemini actually works directly from Google’s web cache. When you give it a link, the model relies on the text snippets and content summaries Google has already crawled and saved.
This has a major limitation. If a web page is brand new, or if it has not been indexed by Google search yet, Gemini cannot see it. In those cases, the system will fail, showing that the page is not in the search index.
So, the next time you ask the assistant to analyze a link, keep in mind that it is not looking at the live web. It is only reading a saved snapshot from Google's database.
