Listen: AI Search
Search where an AI system answers a query directly from retrieved sources, instead of returning a list of links.
Transcript
Think about how you search the web. Instead of clicking through a list of blue links, imagine an AI that reads the web for you and writes a direct, synthesized answer. This is AI search, and it is reshaping how we find information. It is behind Google's AI Overviews, as well as assistants like ChatGPT and Gemini.
What makes AI search different from traditional search is a concept called grounding. When you ask a question, the AI runs its own searches, retrieves relevant web pages, reads short extracts, and then composes a customized response based on those sources.
For businesses and brands, the playground has shifted. Success is no longer just about ranking high on a page of links. It is about AI visibility, which means getting the system to retrieve your content and cite your brand in its final answer. To get there, a new strategy has emerged, known as Answer Engine Optimization.
