Listen: Selection Rate
The rate at which an AI system chooses a given source from the available grounding candidates when composing an answer; the AI-search equivalent of click-through rate.
Transcript
In the world of traditional search engines, we measure success by click-through rate, which tells us how often a human clicks on a link. But as search shifts to artificial intelligence, the way we measure visibility is changing. Today, we have a new metric to watch: selection rate.
Selection rate is the frequency at which an AI system chooses a specific source from all the available candidates to construct and ground its answer. Instead of a human clicking a link, the AI model itself selects your content to back up its response.
If you want your information to be featured in AI-generated answers, your goal is to increase this metric. This process is called selection rate optimization, and it is the key to maintaining visibility in the age of AI search.
